5 scientists vs 1 mouse

This afternoon in the office we spent about 10 minutes chasing this guy around and freaking out about the fact that we had a mouse running around our office before we caught it in a wastebasket and let it go outside.

I mean...what do you think we were going to do? Experiment on it?

That wasn't a lab mouse? You didn't just release "Ebola Madison" on an unsuspecting world? :)

I wonder if the lab in Reston has a more interesting story: "5 scientists vs 1 monkey... we caught him a wastebasket and let it go outside."

No...it's some Peromyscus, either a deer mouse or a white-footed mouse. You can see it's sort of brown with black tipping and white feet. Lab mice are either solid white - most of them - or black, like the C57BL6 strain and its derivatives.

And thank God, nobody at Madison's working with Ebola. Only one professor here does any research on it at all and the facility where he handles it is up in Canada.
