Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
This is me, firing an Uzi in automatic mode:
(The gun belongs to Steve's cousin Michael, who DOES have a permit for it. I wish Steve could have caught the look on his face as he comes up behind me, convinced that the skinny little girl holding his expensive gun is going to topple over backward. We watched this video about five times just to laugh at how funny I look.)
It's been an exhausting week. I was taking the Emerging Techniques in Protein and Genetic Engineering course at the BTCI, which was great but ran from 8:30am to 7pm every day, plus emailing 2 scientists I've never met (emailing strangers makes me nervous as hell) and trying to rewrite my Master's research proposal.
Then today (Saturday) I learned how to shoot. Steve's dad and cousin, who are both gun nuts (Michael until recently owned a gun shop) said I did a good job. More photos later, featuring more of the Uzi, an AK-47, an M-17, a Ruger .22, and an old .22 pump-action. I'm a happy kitty. ^_^

Hahahaha
It looked like you were about to go flying backwards from the recoil.
Carrie Anne Moss you are not.
That's a great video! :) ...I didn't realize an Uzi had that much recoil.
I used a M16A2 for a few weeks in the Air Force, but I was usually lying prone or braced when I fired it in semi- or full- auto. The M16 and 9mm Beretta were the only 2 weapons I got to use in the USAF. I've fired .22, a M1 Garand, and a .357 back when my dad taught me.
Looks like you had a fun Saturday! :)
It's probably not so much a matter of an Uzi having "that much recoil" as of me having so little upper body strength =D I have a video of Steve's dad firing it and he doesn't move (he's got a lifetime of gun experience though).
And yes, it was tons of fun. I needed to get outdoors after that week of training.
I was showing your video to a co-worker who has an Uzi with a 30-round magazine. He was telling me you'd probably have landed on your butt after 30 rounds, quick succession. He was recommending that you change your stance so that your back leg acts as a brace. :)
Being a federal contractor for attorneys and judges, alot of my co-workers either open-carry or have guns at home. Many of them have M1 Garand, AR-15, .22 Ruger, and 9mm Beretta. They keep trying to convince me to get an M1 or AR15 for home, but I'd have to get some range time and I'd have to teach Vicky.
That looks like it was tons of fun... I'll have to show Vicky tonight. Maybe that'll convince her? She's 5'0" and 102lb, so I can only imagine how she'd do. =D
Haha, yeah. Michael told me to lean forward after that. The reason I was leaning backward is because the rifles were so darn heavy!
Being in the Philippines was fun after 4 years in the US because there I was taller than most other women ^_^
